You can buy a slightly used 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren in Moscow, Russia for ₽39.99 million, or $542,240 USD. The seller justifies the asking price with the iconic status of the car and its 5,132 km (3,189 miles) of use.
The automaker only made 2,157 such cars in 2003 through 2009, including all body styles and special editions. The original production run was planned at 3,500 units, but Mercedes ended up scaling it down.
A 5.4-liter V8 drove a track-friendly five-speed automatic transmission with 626 PS (617 hp / 460 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque. The car weighed in at 1,750 kg (3,858 lbs) despite having plenty of aluminum and carbon fiber parts in its structure. It sprinted 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.8 seconds and hit its speed ceiling at 334 km/h (207.5 mph).
The example on sale – you can see it in the gallery here – had four owners and still keeps a clean record. The seller claims it is in an ‘as-new’ condition, implying that it was purchased as an investment.
This is not the most expensive Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren in Russia, however. A 12-year-old supercar with just 1,300 km (808 miles) on the odo surfaced on that country’s market for ₽80 million not long ago, making it the most expensive used Mercedes on sale at that moment.
