The German automotive giant Mercedes-Benz has decided to part with its rare copy of the SLR McLaren 722 S. With only 150 such cars in existence, the starting price has been estimated at €1,240,000.
This particular Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 S Roadster was manufactured in 2009 and has slightly over 25,000 kilometers (15,500 miles) on its odometer. It has spent the last several years sitting in the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart, Germany.
The sport car packs an eight-cylinder turbocharged engine with 5.5 liters of displacement room. Its performance amounts to 650 hp (485 kW) and 820 Nm (605 lb·ft) of torque. Driven by an engine like this, the vehicle bolts 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.8 seconds and ultimately climbs to 335 km/h (208 mph).
The interior is mostly black with lots of semi-aniline leather finish, chamois and carbon used throughout. There are quite a few racing features such as the stronger brake supports, the design wheels, the low suspension and the aerodynamically-shaped body kit.
It should be mentioned that the SLR McLaren family has some even more elusive members. For instance, there is the Stirling Moss speedster series that encompasses just 75 vehicles.
