Hymer unveils Sprinter-based ‘motorhome of the future’

Hymer, a German vendor of practical campervans, motorhomes and trailers, has unveiled a design study called the VisionVenture. The company says this is how we will be traveling in five years.

The custom build uses the latest Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform and tech and benefits from around two dozen of innovative materials, as well as some 3D-printed parts.

The VisionVenture only offers accommodation for two people. It comes equipped with a comfortable roof tent whose walls are 70 millimeters (2.7 inches) thick and can be filled with either cold or warm air in 60 seconds. The entire car sports a special thermostatic paint that lowers the surface temperature by a whopping 20 degrees Celsius and the cabin temperature by 4ºC.

The first tier of the van houses a kitchen, a study and a bathroom with a shower, sink and WC. The second tier is occupied by a sleeping area.

The VisionVenture will not reach production in its current form, but other Hymer campervans will gradually adopt its features.
