Everyone is environment-obsessed these days, but Mercedes has just upped the ante with its Sustaineer Concept, a van based on the battery-powered eSprinter and capable of purifying the air around it.
Advanced arrays of filters installed at both ends of the car enable it to suck in the air from the streets and pump it back in a cleansed form. The company claims that the efficiency is around 50 percent, justifying its use in future production cars.
Interestingly enough, the system continues working even when the van is parked. In this state, only the front-end filter is active and functions as a vacuum cleaner. The company claims eco-friendly materials find extensive use in the concept.
