Mercedes-Benz shows its upcoming EQV being tested in freezing cold

The German automaker has driven its all-electric minivan to a proving ground in Switzerland where it will be putting it through a series of tests in extreme cold conditions.

The premium-specced, V-Class-based MPV should reach the market closer to this summer. It comes powered by a single electric motor rated at 204 hp (152 kW) and a 100-kWh traction battery for around 400 kilometers (248 miles) of range.

Aside from ensuring the proper operation of all main units and components in cold weather, the engineering team assessed the handling performance and stability of the minivan on snow and ice. It also tested the Express Charging feature that is supposed to be able to refill the battery from zero to 80% within 45 minutes.

The prices aren’t out yet, but rumors suggest the Europe spec will go for as much as €70,000.
