As one would expect, sports cars and performance cars are the most frequent guests to the drag strip, lately often accompanied by EVs and restomods. Seeing a minivan trying its darnedest to run the quarter-mile as fast as possible is something new, though.
YouTuber Automotive Mike posted a video featuring a rather normal-looking V-Class riding on some aftermarket wheels. The big surprise lies under the hood, though, where a custom twin-turbo V8 by GAD Motors toils, producing 592 PS (585 hp / 435 kW).
The German tuner had dismantled the original engine with its 193 PS (190 hp / 142 kW) and put an eight-cylinder crate engine in its place. The chosen model proved not that good of a match for the minivan, so the GAD team took the M177 mill of the Aston Martin DBX and built a custom engine based on it.
After all was said and done, the van was sending the aforementioned 592 metric horsepower to the wheels. It also received a new exhaust, improved suspension and ceramic brakes to better cope with the load.
