Daniel Abt has shared a YouTube video with a drag race between two completely different cars: a bulky Mercedes-Benz X-Class and a tiny Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione.
The truck had its 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel engine boosted from 258 PS (254 hp / 190 kW) to 320 PS (316 hp / 235 kW). The peak torque simultaneously went up to 730 Nm (538 lb-ft). The main downside is the weight, which amounts to 2.5 metric tons, or 5,500 lbs.
For its own part, the Abarth 595 commands a 1.4-liter turbo-four only good for 180 PS (177 hp / 132 kW) and 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) of torque. It is also front-wheel-drive, while the Mercedes benefits from AWD. On the plus side, it weighs in at just 1,165 kg (2,568 lbs).
The start of the race saw the X-Class pulling ahead at once, but the hatchback caught up with it near the 80 km/h (50 mph) mark and ended up winning by a full body length. It hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.57 seconds, and the pickup was barely behind with 8.67 seconds.
The second race ended in an even more decisive victory for the Abarth hatch.
