The Mercedes-Benz 190E, a classic European sedan harking back to the late ‘90s, is a rare but welcome sight on the streets of the United States these days. Dom Tucci of Tucci Hot Rods has just wrapped up work on a particularly interesting example, so let’s take a look.
The car lost its original engine in favor of a much more efficient EcoBoost V6 transplanted from an F-150 Raptor truck. A custom front subframe had to be fabricated for it, and it was far from all. Dom Tucci also replaced the turbos and raised the boost pressure ending up with roughly 710 PS (700 hp / 522 kW) heading for the wheels.
For the European classic to even hope to withstand the load, it had to get a new transmission. The engine was hooked to a Bowler-Tremec TKX Carbon Edition 5MT using a two-disc clutch from Advanced Clutch Technology.
The project car also utilizes a Subaru STI differential, custom-fabricated axles, and Wilwood Superlite brake calipers with 330mm rotors. The cabin appears to be slightly revamped, too, with new dash gauges.
