Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II revival prototype goes on sale

HWA AG, an Affalterbach company that’s bringing back the legendary Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II for modern-day connoisseurs, has announced the forthcoming sale of its prototype saloon. The car with the chassis number 000 will hit the auction in Germany in late July, giving you one last chance to own an HWA Evo (all 100 planned production cars are reportedly sold out at this time).

In the meantime, the car number zero will serve as a technological sample for the remaining hundred. HWA promises to document its entire assembly process in meticulous detail and hand over the papers to the highest bidder.

Rather than restoring genuine 190E 2.5-16 Evo II models, which are considered a collector’s rarity nowadays, the company works with the regular, mass-produced 190E chassis. It receives all-new suspension, body and powertrain. The latter consists of a three-liter V6 rated at 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque in the base spec and a six-speed MT.

Those who would like a little boost may request a tune-up to 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW). The feature list goes on to mention upsized OEM-style wheels with performance brakes, carbon-fiber body kit components, and a perfect 50:50 weight distribution ratio.

Prices in Europe are expected to start from €714,000, but the car No. 000 may cost more than a million.
