Care to drive a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL owned by a quintuple F1 champion?

Mercedes-Benz gave this 300 SL as a retirement gift to Juan Manuel Fangio, also known as El Maestro, a five-time winner of the Formula One.

The light blue roadster saw the daylight in 1958 and had a cream-hued leather in the cabin, references the colors of the Argentinian flag. Its owner had originally traveled Europe behind its steering wheel, but later brought it home to Argentina.

Since 1951, Fangio was an authorized Mercedes dealer in his home country. Mercedes gave him the honorary title of local Sales President 23 years later.

The sports car has 72,951 km (45,330 miles) under its belt with Fangio as the one and only driver. It has lately been kept in the Fangio Museum in Balcarce Partido. It is being sold ‘as is’, meaning in the state the driver left it in, no cabin restoration or anything. The auction holder claims that the steering wheel, the gear lever and the driver’s seat still bear ‘traces of the racing driver touching them.’

The auction will be a private event, and it will take place on February 28, 2022. We are promised that the winning bid amount will be revealed.
