Mercedes-Benz confirms concluding the world’s most expensive car sale

One out of the two existing Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut cars officially became our planet’s most expensive light passenger vehicle ever after Mercedes confirmed selling the museum exhibit for €135,000,000.

The company promised to use the money gained to establish a global charity foundation for the support of environmental research and talented students.

Daimler AG CEO Ola Kallenius said he made the decision to approve the deal after reviewing its charity potential. No, Mercedes-Benz intends to partner up with another company (uncredited) to establish a new foundation that will generate high school and college stipends for students involved in projects related to environment protection and decarbonization. The same foundation will also be used to fund educational projects and student research in the fields mentioned above.

The private auction took place on the Mercedes-Benz Classic premises on May 5, and was attended by RM Sotheby’s representatives. The identity of the buyer remains private, but they agreed to demonstrate the car to the public ‘on special occasions.’

The other 300 SLR Uhlenhaut remains in the property of Mercedes-Benz.
