A 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE (W128) is looking for a new owner in Europe. The car comes with a compact trailer styled to look impressively like an OEM option. The seller asks for €119,000.
The W128 generation came out in 1958-1960 and is considered quite a rarity in its own right. Only 2,916 units was made in total, including 830 coupes like this one and the rest divided between sedans and convertibles. The model was nicknamed “Pontoon” due to the characteristic design of its fenders.
Power for this example originates in a 2.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine rated at 115 PS (113 hp / 85 kW). The odometer shows around 58,000 km (36,000 miles), but it looks obviously restored and practically new.
The trailer pictured here is also a rarity. Called the Austermann Type Knospe-K, it belongs to a production run of 1,300 units. The one on sale is believed to be one of the last examples preserved to these days.
Much has been done to match the exterior and interior styling between the two. Inside the trailer, a pair of leather sofas unfold to form a bed, and other notable amenities on board include a kitchen top, a spacious wardrobe, and drawers for miscellanea.
