A used car dealership in Great Britain is selling a 30-year-old Mercedes-Benz estate car that AMG – which was still a standalone customizer back then – turned into something more exciting.
We are told that only 171 such vehicles was built with the E36 badge on them, and this particular example goes for just £25,000, or around $32,500 in U.S. monies.
AMG only became a part of Mercedes-Benz 23 years ago when the latter bought the majority interest in the former. The two had cooperated on multiple projects before that, but this car is still older than that era, meaning it was built without any assistance on the Mercedes part.
Modifications include a revised body kit, new wheels and reduced ground clearance. If we had to pick the biggest highlight, though, we would definitely point at the engine.
Power for the car comes from a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder mill based on the Mercedes-Benz 320 TE block bored out from its original 3.2 liters. The power amounts to 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW), a healthy boost over the standard 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW). According to the seller, the car needs 7.2 seconds to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxes out at 240 km/h (149 mph).
The listing also mentions a Brilliant Bornit Metallic paintjob in excellent condition, a chassis that has never seen major repairs yet, and only light age marks on the wooden décor and leather trim.
