Vision AMG Concept previews a high-performance EV

The Mercedes-AMG Vision Concept lifts the veil over the future of the German automaker’s sports car division. The company confirms that the design study will eventually crystallize into a full-fledged production EV with enviable capabilities.

The reveal event was largely focused on the exterior of the concept vehicle and lacked any technical details. We know that the Vision AMG was built on a special architecture called the AMG.EA. It relies on multiple innovative electric engines that are claimed to produce ‘much more horsepower than conventional motors do.’

As well, the Vision AMG has a long wheelbase, short overhangs and low ride height. It boasts prominent wheel arches and has Formula One-style wheels installed. The front end wears what seems to be an evolutionary development of the Panamericana grille. An active spoiler sits on the trunk lid in the back, and various body panels appear illuminated. The interior remains a mystery at this time.
