Mercedes-Benz Vario firetruck becomes an RV for five

Emergency vehicles aren’t only good for emergencies; robust and practical, they lend themselves well to motorhome conversions, too. Collectief Soepel proves the point with this Mercedes-Benz Vario once serving as a firefighter truck in Switzerland.

The cab of the RV keeps its original yellow and orange livery, but the rest of the body was repainted in pale green. The inner space is trimmed with light wood paneling complemented by ash and birch veneers in the kitchen. The doors were made from recycled plastic.

There are several beds on board, a bathroom, a 70s-style table with bench seats next to it, and a kitchen with a two-stove top, a fridge, a sink and a small oven. A few cabinets are mounted above the sink, and light gets inside through a round illuminator window.

The owner of the camper says it has everything necessary for a family of five to embark on a long road trip away from civilization.
