Mercedes has been working on the second generation of the AMG GT, as these spy shots from the Nürburgring clearly show.
Despite the full camo wrap, you can still see some parts of the radiator grille, headlights and taillights, and trapezoid exhaust finishers. The configuration of the exhaust system suggests that the car still clings to its standard V8.
The new AMG GT will be based on the same architecture as the topless AMG SL while gaining a more aggressive design with some AMG One traits mixed in. In all likelihood, it will ship with the same engine choices as the SL, including the turbo-four and the turbo-eight available in versions up to 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW). Both will be mild hybrids, although a plug-in hybrid version is also very likely to debut.
Rumor has it the new car should debut later this year or in early 2023.
