The German tuning shop provides dyno measurements to back its claim, but doesn’t explain how the result is supposed to be superior to what Opus Automotive achieved last spring.
After a range of extreme tweaks and improvements, the AMG GT Coupe pictured here was able to hit the dyno stand with 1,066 metric horsepower (1,051 hp / 784 kW) and 1,127 Nm (831 lb-ft) of torque. This puts the Stuttgart supercar above even the Bugatti Veyron with its 1,001 PS (987 hp / 736 kW).
The tuning necessitated outfitting the stock 4.0-liter V8 with new turbos, ECU, exhaust system and other components. In its factory form, the engine maxes out at 734 PS (724 hp / 540 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. However, you would have to buy an AMG Anniversary Edition to take advantage of it.
Opus Automotive was able to boost the same engine model to 1,111 PS (1,096 hp / 817 kW) last March. The result was tested on an AMG GT Black Series in both cases.
Once tuned by Renntech, the car sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in three seconds flat, shaving 0.2 seconds off the standard time. The top speed rises even more remarkably from 325 to 352 km/h (from 202 to 218.7 mph, respectively). Aside from the engine boost, the full tuning package offered by the company includes carbon-fiber aerodynamic parts, an internal roll cage and forged wheels.
