The Mercedes-AMG subdivision celebrates turning 55 this year, and this GT3 Edition 55 is its present to itself. Only five racecars will be made and sold starting from €625,000.
The special GT3 features a number of upgrades over the standard model. Most importantly, though, it is no longer FIA-homologated, meaning the engineering crew could cut themselves loose from restrictions and just implement what they have wanted all along in terms of aerodynamics, drivetrain, exhaust system and curb weight.
The 6.3-liter V8 was optimized and now pumps out a healthy 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW), a healthy improvement over the 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) of the homologation-bound GT3. The exhaust system lacks the mandatory muffler, so you can probably imagine how monstrous the sound is.
Elsewhere, the GT3 Edition 55 is awash with exclusive features like embroidered seats, carbon-fiber trim pieces, safety harnesses with silver accents, and a serial number plaque to let everyone know the car is a rare and expensive exotic.
Together with their purchase, buyers will be getting a custom-tailored full cover for their track weapon and a Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition AMG.
