Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new AMG GT specification called Concept E Performance. No parameters have been revealed, but AutoHome believes the car could borrow its powertrain from the five-door AMG GT 63 S E Performance, getting north of 800 horsepower and a sub-3-second sprint time.
On the outside, the concept car has a new fixed rear wing, special 21-inch wheels and gold-tinted brake calipers. It also wears an original read-and-black livery and has tinted lighting units all around. A charging port lid can be seen in the rear bumper.
As for the powertrain, we are told that it consists of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a rear electric motor. While not confirmed yet, it sounds like the powertrain of the AMG GT 63 S E Performance liftback revealed a few years ago. That one had 843 PS (831 hp / 620 kW) and 1,470 Nm (1,084 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal, and could sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds.
The lower curb weight of the Munich coupe should make it a little faster on the uptake than the liftback, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Mercedes dialed its output up a bit to highlight its flagship status.
