Mercedes-AMG starts testing its Porsche Taycan rival

Mercedes-AMG is preparing to launch a new electric vehicle that will take the competition to the formidable Porsche Taycan with around 1,000 horsepower (750 kilowatts) under the hood. CarBuzz has just posted a series of photos of what looks like its first test mule.

At a glance, you’d think the car is a normal Mercedes-Benz EQE (watch the video and compare if you feel like it). However, closer scrutiny reveals that the proportions are off and the track is noticeably wider, too.

According to insiders, the car is provisionally known in-house as the C295 and is being built on an all-new chassis known as AMG.EA. It is expected to reach the market in 2026 as a successor-of-sorts to the iconic Mercedes-AMG GT.
