Mercedes-AMG has pitted its latest and greatest supercar – the One – against an AMG GT Black Series coupe that set a Nürburgring record two years ago and is still packing the company’s most powerful V8 in history.
Charged to 730 PS (720 hp / 537 kW), the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series snaps from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds. In addition to the beefy V8, the car benefits from numerous chassis and aerodynamic improvements, to say nothing of a nine-stage traction control system.
But it still pales in comparison to the part-electric Mercedes-AMG One packing five total motors, including a 1.6-liter Formula V6. The newcomer left the AMG GT for standing, accelerating to a dizzying 315 km/h (195 mph) towards the finish line.
According to Bernd Schneider, quintuple winner of the DTM series, he gave his very best to launch his AMG GT as fast as humanly possible – but it was simply not enough. The One was piloted by Nico Bastian, AMG Performance driver.
The Mercedes-AMG One finally debuted this year after several tough years in development hell. Its combined power of 1,063 PS (1,048 hp / 782 kW) enables it to zap 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and easily hit 352 km/h (218.7 mph).
