Mercedes hints at an inevitable Nürburgring lap record

The Mercedes-AMG One was spotted on the North Loop in August this year, making one fast lap after another. Back then, we thought the German automaker could be heading for a record. It now looks like we were on to something.

Mercedes took to its social pages to post three photos of the AMG One on the Nürburgring accompanied by the text saying it was time for us to witness something we had all been waiting for so long. We would not be surprised at all to learn that the One set a new lap record.

The current champion among production cars is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which dethroned the AMG GT Black Series by only 0.61 seconds.

Assisting the AMG One in its ambitious goals are a 1.6-liter Formula-grade V6, four electric motors, sophisticated suspension, a dedicated Track Mode and special presets enabling drivers to get up to five times the usual downforce.
