The AMG One hypercar had been in development hell for several years due to extreme engineering challenges before finally shipping out in August 2022. The total production run was supposed to be limited to just 275 units, but it looks like Mercedes may now have to make another one.
One of the One’s has been lost this weekend during transportation on the M6 highway in Staffordshire, England. According to The Sun publishing the photo of the aftermath, the Formula-engined racecar for the road has burnt down to a hull.
Mercedes told The Sun that the cause of the fire was unknown and an investigation was underway. One theory that sounds plausible is that the hybrid car could catch fire from a faulty battery cell.
