Mercedes-Benz C-Class test mule spotted riding high

The camera-wielding, car-spotting crowd has nabbed a mysterious new C-Class testing outside in winter with a generous amount of added ride height.

The car is obviously not what it seems, because it wears the exterior of a 2015 W204 C-Class along with black wheel arches, mixed wheel designs (and sizes, by the look of it), new side skirts and some additional roof lights.

As such, our best bet will be on a next-gen GLA or GLB crossover testing in a different body. Another possibility would be a downsized G-Class, which rumors have been circulating about for 10 years now.

It would not be the first weirdly proportioned mule on record for Mercedes, either. A shortened E-Class hit the road in 2019 only to morph into an SL-Class coupe later. In 2020, Aston Martin tested its DBX SUV under the AMG E63 guise.
