New Mercedes-Benz CLE spied ripping up the racetrack

Mercedes continues testing its new CLE coupe coming to replace its outdated C- and E-Class counterparts. Here is a new bunch of spy shots allowing a closer look at the car.

Judging by the radiator grille, it is an affordable spec, rather than an AMG. The company took care to wrap the body from prying eyes, but you can still see similarities with the future E-Class headlights, for example.

The spy photographer even snapped a couple of cabin shots this time around, allowing a sneak peek at the seats wrapped in fabric (meaning a lower trim level), a three-spoke steering wheel, an infotainment display and a digital dash screen.

Like the current C-Class (see video), the new CLE utilizes the MRA 2 architecture. It comes in several ICE variants to choose from, as well as a PHEV powertrain. The premiere is expected to take place before the end of the year.
