The new Mercedes-Benz eCitan offers an electric take on the compact van introduced a few years ago.
The only electric motor available resides on the front axle, pushing it with 122 PS (120 hp / 90 kW) and 245 Nm (181 lb-ft) of torque. A 45-kWh traction battery yields 280 km (174 miles) of range per charge. The top acceleration doesn’t exceed 132 km/h (82 mph).
Those looking for a commercial van will be able to choose from two flavors. The Standard size is identical to that of the gas-powered Citan model (4,498 mm long with 2,716 mm between the axles), while the LWB version offers superior 4,922 mm and 3,100 mm, accordingly. The cargo area is 2.9 cubic meters large in the standard version and gets to 3.62 cubic meters with the long wheelbase.
In its passenger form, the eCitan is a five-seater with two sliding doors included in the base trim (the LCV only gets sliding doors if you are willing to pay extra for them). Folding tables and front seat back pockets are also available.
Trim-wise, there are only two levels, called Base and Pro. Opting for the latter gets you an audio system, an AC and power windows. There are also many paid options not included by default – a 7-inch infotainment unit, driver aids and LED lighting.
Prices start from €36,000.
