1 of 8 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM racers underway to auction in France

A 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM coupe from a series of just eight such racecars will be auctioned off at RM Sotheby’s in Paris, France on February 1, 2023. This specific car participated in multiple races and scored six podiums, but ended up on the fourth position in the championship proper. There are no price estimations.

Powering the rare DTM racer is a 4.0-liter V8 driving the wheels with 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW) through an Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission.

Works HWA, the team that chose this car for the race, returned it to the manufacturer after the season. It proceeded to appear in ads and commercials and was ultimately sold to a collector in Czech Republic. The current owner had it from 2013, when it still had around 2,500 km (1,550 miles) under its belt, but the current mileage is closer to 3,500 km (2,170 mi).

Despite this, the car is reportedly in great condition, well-maintained with a new transmission. It is not road-legal, but the auction holder believes it will make a fine exhibit or a capable track day tool. It is also still fit for participating in the Tourenwagen Legenden racing series held among classic cars.
