Mercedes-Benz has confirmed its plans to take the CLS-Class out of production at the end of summer, The Drive reports quoting a representative of the carmaker’s U.S. office. The production lines will permanently stop on August 31, 2023.
Those interested in a car with a sloped roof will be directed to the all-electric EQE and EQS models. Those who would rather drive a non-electrified vehicle may still purchase an AMG GT liftback.
The third CLS generation went into production in 2018 and underwent a planned upgrade two years later. The original family also included a wagon, which didn’t make it to the third generation due to poor sales.
