Mercedes-Benz is no longer taking pre-orders for the E-Class sedan, Automobilwoche reports adding that chip shortage and high demand appear to be the main reasons.
According to the publication, those interested in the new E-Class are now offered showroom examples and demo cars instead. No new production is going on.
The automaker has not confirmed the news on official terms. It also remains unclear whether the company experiences similar difficulties in other markets.
On a brighter note, the next-gen E-Class has been spotted testing on the streets several times already, and the launch is expected later this year.
