Mercedes-AMG to wave the W213 E 63 goodbye along with its V8

Mercedes-AMG has just registered an ‘E 63 S Final Edition’. While no comment has been provided from the manufacturer, everything points to it being the last V8-powered E-Class vehicle in history.

The words ‘Final Edition’ must mean that the W213 generation of the E-Class is coming to an end. The latest facelift was a couple of years ago, and while a successor is planned for the next year, Mercedes has yet to reveal it even partially.

Another good guess it that the next E-Class will make do without eight cylinders and four liters of displacement in its top spec. Like its C-Class sibling, it will most likely utilize an eco-friendly 2.0-liter turbo-four plus electric motor.

Judging by the photos posted thus far, the E 63 S Final Edition will sport a matte-black body and ride on 20-inch wheels. It will have carbon fiber design elements both outside and in the cabin, and some yellow highlights for contrast inside.

The drivetrain output is expected to stay more or less the same at 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. This should enable a sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of around 300 km/h (186 mph). In Germany, a standard Mercedes-AMG E 63 S (see video) starts from 130,000 euros, but the Final Edition is guaranteed to come with a premium to it.
