A 32-year-old Mercedes-Benz AMG 6.0 Widebody is heading to auction expected to fetch U.S. $750,000–850,000 due to having an authentic AMG VIN code from the era when AMG was still a standalone company.
The base car is a C124 coupe powered by an inline six-cylinder engine with 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW). The tuner replaced it with an M119 V8 mill native to the R129 SL-Class. It also stroked the engine from the original 5.0 to 6.0 liters and ramped up the output to 375 PS (370 hp / 276 kW).
Elsewhere, the project car has flared fenders and rides on 17-inch OZ AMG Aero III multi-piece forged rims wrapped in performance tires. The rear suspension benefits from reinforcements that prevent the tail from sinking too much during rapid acceleration. The front suspension was also modified to accommodate the larger, heavier engine. Rounding off the look are custom bumpers, side sill extensions and rear spoiler.
The trim inside is top-notch and is accompanied by aftermarket seats, steering wheel and woodgrain décor. The front seats appear to have loads of adjustments, judging by all the buttons – quite exquisite for a car made in 1990. Body-matching blue leather covers most of the cabin with white stitching for contrast.
The odometer reads 36,701 km (22,805 miles). The car had stayed in Japan until last year when it was brought to the United States.
