The Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance, which is considered to be the highest-power S-Class in history, is now available to preorder in Europe starting from €208,400 before any options. This puts the car on par with the Porsche 911 Turbo in Germany, and we may see the prices rise even further when the limited Edition 1 hits the showrooms.
The ultimate E-Class combines a four-liter V8 with an electric motor and a nine-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. The electric motor is installed in such a fashion as to be able to drive either of the axles, or both at the same time. The all-electric range is rather limited at 33 kilometers (20.5 miles), though.
The hybrid output is estimated at 802 PS (791 hp / 590 kW) and 1,430 Nm (1,055 lb-ft) of torque. The car needs 3.3 seconds for the standard launch and comes equipped with such standard features as air suspension, active roll suppression, Matrix LED headlights and 20-inch forged wheels.
As for the Edition 1, it will be a time-limited offer instead of quantity-limited, and Mercedes has not revealed any timeframes yet. We know that the Edition 1 E-Class will correspond to the top trim level and come loaded with a plethora of other high-end options. These include an Alpine Grey Uni exterior finish, 21-inch wheels and a red-and-black cabin trim. The exterior will receive the AMG Night blackout treatment.
You can already visit the manufacturer’s website to learn the prices of individual options. For instance, lifting the electronic speed limit to 290 km/h (180 mph) costs €2,260, carbon-ceramic brakes will set you back €8,925, and carbon-fiber trim accents will add another €5,820 to the total.
