Reports: New Mercedes-Benz E-Class keeps All-Terrain version alive

Mercedes-Benz has so far only shown us the sedan version of the new E-Class (in the gallery below), but we expect wagon and AMG versions to join the lineup soon. According to Autoevolution quoting the manufacturer’s EPA filings, there will be an All-Terrain variant as well.

The publication says there are some technical specifications in the patent documents. Among other things, it is said that the new E-Class for the USA will have all-wheel drive and utilize a mild-hybrid powertrain based on a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine.

In all likelihood, the same engine will be available in other E-Class modifications as well. The only car officially introduced so far had a four-cylinder engine, but there will be larger options as well. Mercedes refrains from revealing any details, but a full premiere is expected later this year.

It is also official now that the company plans to phase out its E-Class Coupe and Convertible, replacing both with a single CLE-Class. The Mercedes-Benz CLE will arrive in the USA with three engine options to choose from, including the flagship CLE 53.
