Mercedes-Benz EQA spied running around near R&D HQ

Mercedes-Benz has been testing its battery-powered EQA sedan lately, as evidenced by these shots made near the company’s Stuttgart design headquarters.

The body of the car is camouflaged, but a lack of tailpipes and the overall profile view lets us assume that it is none other than the EQA sedan, which Mercedes-Benz Chief Designer Gordon Wagener teased at The Economics of Desire event in May.

The four-door EV will kick off a new affordable Mercedes lineup called Entry Luxury. It will also introduce the market to a new tech platform named Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture. The MMA was announced two years ago as a manufacturing basis optimized for EVs, but suitable for ICE car production as well.

Wagener promised that the newcomer would become one of the most technologically sophisticated and luxurious vehicles in its segment. The innovations the company pioneered in the Vision EQXX Concept will endow it with plenty of driving range.

To be specific, these innovations include an active aerodynamic body kit and a high-density traction battery featuring a new chemical composition. Aside from the above, the EQA will be the first production car to take advantage of a new infotainment software, the MB.OS.

The premiere is still a few years away.
