Mercedes-Maybach’s firstborn EV spied running around almost naked

Car spies have tracked down a Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV as it was driven around in snow. Carscoops believes the premiere is a stone’s throw away, and we tend to agree – note that only a few individual parts are disguised.

Specifically, what little there is of the wrap resides on the badges and bumper details front and rear. This is likely where the design changes compared to the stock Mercedes-Benz EQS are. The company could also throw in some new wheels and a two-tone paintjob for good measure (watch the video for the last year’s concept car finished in two colors).

While the standard SUV ships with up to three seat rows, the Maybach will be strictly a four-seater with a console separating the rear seats. To maximize the legroom, the manufacturer may move the seats farther to the rear end. As for the giant HyperScreen display spanning the whole dashboard, it will likely be included in all trim levels.

The drivetrain, on the other hand, may stay stock. We suppose that the Maybach version of the EQS SUV may ship with the top-end dual-motor powertrain offered for the stock model. The motors produce a combined 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) and 858 Nm (633 lb-ft) of torque, while a 108-kWh traction battery grants up to 660 km (410 miles) of range.

The premiere could take place in early 2023.
