Insiders from Mercedes-Benz claim that the company’s all-electric flagship – the EQS – lacks too much demand to justify continued production.
As a result, we are told that the company plans to electrify the regular S-Class, offering it side-by-side with traditional and eco-friendly powertrains. If true, however, it basically means that all plans Mercedes had for maintaining two separate vehicle lines – ICE and electric – have fallen through.
Looking at the competition, BMW is offering its 7-Series in ICE, hybrid and fully electric versions. Nothing should prevent Mercedes from doing the same.
