The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class Stronger Than Diamonds Edition is coming to its domestic market with 0.25 carats worth of natural diamonds in the trim and a €45,000 premium over the base version. Only 300 units will be made.
The limited series debuted on St. Valentine’s Day. Mercedes finishes the off-roader in a special shade known as Rosewood Grey Magno and put fours diamonds in its door-locking pins. No other Mercedes car produced today has these outdated locking pins anymore. Each exclusive G-Class comes with a certificate confirming the “ethical, socially responsible and environmentally clean” origin of the diamonds.
In addition to this stylistic touch, the Stronger Than Diamonds Edition gets a black Nappa leather interior with pink stitching, deep-pile rugs and special edition engravings on the kick plates, the key fob and the dashboard. A full-body cover is provided with the car free of charge.
It’s worth noting that the company didn’t pick the range-topping Mercedes-AMG G 63 for the special series. Instead, it based it on a normal G 500 model powered by a 4.0-liter V8 rated at 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW). The G 500 retails from roughly €130,000 in Germany, but the STD Edition (pun unintended) will set you back €175,000.
