Mercedes-Benz pauses new G-Class orders

According to German website MBPassionBlog, the tri-pointed star company has been declining orders for the G-Class since January 17, 2022. Authorized dealerships also tell customers they cannot buy the off-roader.

There has been no official comment so far, but the blog points out that the waiting queue for the G-Class is already three years long, with deliveries scheduled up until Q4 2024. In all likelihood, the Manga factory in Austria cannot keep up with the demand.

Mercedes sold over 41,000 G-Class units last year, marking a record high since the debut of the classic W460 model in 1979.

A new generation came out four years ago and is now getting ready to be facelifted. It may or may not go on sale later this year.

In addition to the gas-powered G-Wagon, an all-electric EQG should become available in a few year’s time. Its concept version had the same appearance and body-on-frame construction as the original, but came powered by four electric motors.
