This rare 2008 Mercedes-AMG G 63 convertible was once a more mundane G 500 spec with a naturally aspirated V8, but the owner sent it back to Germany for an upgrade and is now selling the result in Moscow, Russia for ₽25 million ($325,250 USD).
To put things into perspective, ₽13.6 million ($177,000) buys you a new entry-level G-Class in Russia. This particular SUV used to have 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) until four years ago, when it was retrofitted with a twin-turbo V8 rated at 571 PS (563 hp / 420 kW), nearly double the original power.
The interior was also drastically overhauled with AMG styling cues and heated/ventilated seats. Larger wheels and performance brakes were also installed.
The G-Class Convertible dropped out of production eight years ago. The last topless G-Wagen was called the Final Edition 200 (see video). Like its name suggests, it came out in a production run of 200 units and offered a beige soft top along with a luxury cabin trim. All vehicles had been sold out via pre-orders before the company could debut the special edition at the 2013 IAA Frankfurt show.
