This brutal Mercedes G-Class AMG pickup truck conversion costs $385k

U.S.-based tuning company Pit26 Motorsports is taking orders for Mercedes-Benz G550 and G63 AMG conversions aimed at improving off-road performance and utility.

All SUVs from the model year 2019 and newer are accepted. The chassis gets cut across the line right behind the rear seats and stretched by around 20 inches (50 cm). A separate cab and bed are then formed using OEM panels and parts for the most authentic look possible.

The arches receive 18- or 20-inch wheels shod in 38-inch Toyo tires. Extensive modifications are performed in the suspension department, where replacements include upper and lower control arms, springs and shock absorbers. Bilstein coilovers allow for precise ride height adjustment, and a more robust steering knuckle makes its way into the setup, too.

As a result, the ground clearance may be increased by up to 230 mm (9 inches) compared to stock. The company claims that the G-Wagen still feels as comfortable and easy to steer as the stock SUV.

Options include a front-mounted winch, an expedition rack, a roof tent, auxiliary lighting all around, automatic running board and a bike rack, among other things. Engine upgrades are also available upon request, with the tuner providing no further details.

Building a truck like the one depicted here costs $385,000 and takes around 1,100 workhours.
