Six-wheeled G-Class poised to sell for $1M+ setting a new record

This Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 is being traded for $700,000 in the USA right now with a few days remaining on the auction clock. Carscoops says the all-time high for this model was $910,000, meaning we could be looking at a new record in the making. The reason? Low mileage, mostly.

Mercedes-Benz and Magna Steyr have joined efforts back in 2013 to produce around a hundred of such cars based on the latest G-Class. Aside from a wood-lined truck bed, every off-roader received a third driven axle (see video). This particular example has only 11,300 kilometers (7,000 miles) on the odometer to show for being 10 years old, hence the hype.

Power for the exclusive G-Class is supplied by a 5.5-liter turbocharged V8 making 544 PS (536 hp / 400 kW) and 760 Nm (561 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed transmission carries the momentum to all four wheels, hitting the front end with around 30 percent of the torque and the two rear axles with 40 and 30 percent. There are as many as five differential locks.

The first owner was a car collector from Dubai, who ordered it in the first production year. It was then imported into the United States but could not be used due to legal limitations. Imported as a Show&Display vehicle, it can be legally driven on public roads for a low 2,500 miles (around 4,000 km) per year.
