Let’s face it: we all have different expectations for 2024, but it would take a consummate pessimist to build a Mad Max-esque off-roader for the new year. Running on the Mercedes-Benz ML (W163) underpinnings, it resides in the UK, costs £27,500 ($34,560) to buy on eBay and will probably help you in a zombie apocalypse. Probably.
The SUV received some hardcore off-roading mods, most notably a set of Mattrack tank tracks fitted into stainless-steel arches. The bumpers at both ends are made from the same metal, but the rest of the bodywork seems to be stock. All the armor plating and riveted seams are just a clever airbrush graphics.
Then there is a minigun sticking out of the hood and an anti-air turret staring at the sky. Neither is functional, but the impression they provide is priceless.
Power for the elderly SUV is still sourced from its original five-liter V8 rated at 292 PS (288 hp / 215 kW) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. The odometer reads 107,236 mi (172,580 km). The seller argues that putting the car in front of a gun store or, say, a paintball field will help with returning the investment.
