New Maybach goes on sale with its VIN already altered

A fresh-looking Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 with a dual-tone paintjob and a light-hued interior trim is up for grabs in New Jersey, USA right now with 388 miles (624 km) on the odometer and an issue with its VIN.

The identification number is either missing or tampered with, meaning the buyer may encounter difficulty registering the car for road use. The seller – possibly an insurance company – supplies no explanation for this.

A similar Maybach (like the one in the video here) usually sells for around $190,000, but this shady example is set to go for approximately two-thirds of that amount. The buyer might be able to restore the original VI using the authentication papers that the seller provides along with the car.

From the technical point of view, the seller claims it is a perfectly fine Maybach GLS 600 with a 4.0-liter petrol V8 rated at 557 PS (550 hp / 410 kW) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque. It has air suspension and AWD, and offers luxury car comforts for up to four people.
