Brabus boosts its extreme GLC-Class to 900 PS

German tuner Brabus first tackled the ultra-deluxe Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 last year, raising its power output from the stock 600 PS (593 hp / 441 kW) to 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW). A new version of the tuning is available now that promises even more thrust.

The eight-cylinder engine was expanded from 4 to 4.5 liters of displacement and thoroughly upgraded in terms of intake, exhaust and boost internals. As a result, it now churns out a mighty 900 PS (888 hp / 662 kW). The torque peaks at 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft), but an electronic limiter ensures it stays below 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft) for transmission durability purposes. The nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system are kept as is.

Once upgraded, the heavy luxobarge proceeds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds, beating the factory-promised launch time by 0.7 seconds. It exhausts its acceleration potential at 320 km/h (199 mph) due to the tires, a circumstance we cannot imagine too many owners complaining about.

Exterior highlights include a rather bold-looking aerodynamic kit made from carbon fiber, a Brabus grille, enlarged tailpipe finishers, and black chrome trim where regular chrome had been.

The interior takes advantage of a customization program known as Brabus Bi-Color Masterpiece. Black and beige leather inside goes perfectly with carbon-fiber inserts and other individual touches. As usual, Brabus lets its clients decide on the interior design.

All prices are available from the tuning company directly.
