Mercedes-Maybach dedicates its next S 680 to a vintage yacht

This Mercedes-Maybach S 680 has been co-designed with the yacht specialists of Robbe&Berking to resemble the legendary Sphinx 12mR yacht dating back to the year 1939. It is a one-off commission that has already been handed over to the client who ordered it.

Robbe&Berking, a company best known for its jewelry products, sprouted a luxury wharf subdivision 16 years ago. The idea to branch out into yacht business came when the company received an order from one of its clients to restore a Sphinx 12mR yacht. The CEO took active part in the project and later decided to make it another point of specialization for Robbe&Berking.

Back to the S 680, though. Like the yacht it strives to imitate, it wears a blue-and-red livery with a white dividing stripe symbolizing the waterline. White Nappa leather with grey stitching is supposed to evoke associations with sails, while numerous walnut wood and aluminum accents all around are meant to remind the passengers about the marine yacht deck. Robbe&Berking complements the one-off project with a couple of silver-coated champagne glasses.
