Canadian armored vehicle manufacturer Inkas has just rolled out an S-Class sedan clad in invisible BR6 armor. The luxury ride now withstands 7.62-caliber rifle fire and the simultaneous explosion of two hand grenades underneath.
On the outside, the car almost looks normal except for unusually thick glass installed in such a way as to be immovable. Only the driver’s window can be lowered, and only a little bit at that. The tires wear special marks saying they can run flat.
The engine remains stock, which in the case of the S 580 4Matic shown here means a V8 rated at 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW) and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Inkas does not reveal any acceleration times, but all the added armor is guaranteed to slow down the initial sprint considerably compared to the stock 4.4 seconds. Brakes and suspension benefit from upgrades to better cope with the load, too.
Paid options include a fire extinguishing system, an oxygen supply system, heat-based night vision (4x normal sight), a megaphone for communicating with the outside world, sirens, and blinding strobe lights.
All pricing remains confidential. Inkas takes pre-orders from all countries worldwide and can deliver the finished vehicle by sea or plane.
