Ever dreamt of a Mercedes-Benz kid car with functional engine and stick shift?

Just because it’s a kid’s toy doesn’t mean this Mercedes-Benz 500 SL R129 cannot take your children on a joyride.

Produced by Alpha Technology in Poland in the 1990s, these cars used to be shipped to toy stores and Mercedes car dealerships alike. Some wound up with quite a bit of mileage on them, but the example shown here is virtually pristine.

It is two meters (6.6 feet) long with a stainless-steel frame, rotor brakes at the rear axle, spring-based suspension, and a single-cylinder Honda engine rated at 2.5 horsepower (1.85 kW). A 1.4-liter fuel tank provides the juice, and a three-range (2+R) manual gearbox sends the torque to the tear wheels. A clutch pedal is also present, of course.

Aside from the main controls, the cabin houses two vinyl-wrapped seats you can move forward or backwards, an ignition lock, turn indicator switches under the wheel, a headlight button, a parking brake, and a horn.

The kid’s car found a new owner at an auction this weekend, who ended up paying $8,100 for it. It now resides in Florida.
