Fans of classic cars like this Pagoda-topped Mercedes-Benz SL-Class tend to be conservative-minded and protective of the few surviving examples of their favorite vehicles. Still, Everrati isn’t a tuner to take advice from the backward-thinking: its specialty is electromods, and this SL has no reason to be an exception.
The company entrusted the restoration of the bodywork and cabin to UK-based Hilton & Moss, which did an outstanding job. Nearly all of the original design has been preserved, from body panels to interior décor. Only the dash gauges have been replaced and the tailpipes have been removed; other than that, the car has preserved its iconic look.
Things look very different in the powertrain department, however. Customers ordering a similar EV from Everrati can choose between two motor options: basic with 176 PS (174 hp / 129 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque, or advanced with 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. Both need less than seven seconds for a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint and max out at 200 km/h (124 mph).
The battery is 68 kWh large and lets you drive for 322 km (200 miles) on a charge. Everrati points out that keeping the pack size down allowed the tuners to achieve nearly the same per-axle weight distribution and weight as the original car, so driving the restored SL shouldn’t feel too different from the original. Granted, the six-cylinder exhaust note is gone for good.
The company neglected to put a price tag on this particular car, but said similar Pagoda-based conversions started from £295,000 before options.
