A Mercedes-Benz SL 500 assembled in March 2000 is up for grabs in the USA right now with less than 2,700 km (1,677 miles) under its belt. The $78,000 asking price buys you a new E-Class with some money left to spare.
The car was produced in the town of Sindelfingen, Germany, and was shipped overseas. In June 2000, its first owner purchased it and kept until 2022 without driving much at all. Its current owner bought it with 1,700 km (~1,050 miles) on the odometer and has put another 900 km (~560 miles) on it since then.
Throughout its entire life, the roadster has been meticulously cared for, not driven on rainy days, kept in a closed area and regularly serviced. The seller claims that the body paint, the interior trim and the powertrain are all in mint condition.
Aside from its standard trim features, this SL was optioned with a handful of OEM accessories and packages. These included a full AMG body kit, 18-inch wheels, Xenon headlamps and heated seats. The interior was trimmed with grey Nappa leather and adorned with walnut wood accents.
Powering the luxurious roadster is a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 with 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and 460 Nm (339 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is five-speed automatic.
