Texan tuning company Moment Motor has unveiled a Mercedes-Benz 280 SL electromod. The vintage roadster lost its internal combustion engine and landed with a single powerful e-motor. Ordering a car like this starts from U.S. $250,000, but if you already happen to have an SL on your hands, the conversion will cost roughly $135,000.
The team that worked on the project began with studying blueprints and building a 3D model of the car. According to a representative of the company, this was a necessary step in ensuring that the electromod retains the authentic look, feel and handling.
A 62-kWh battery pack gives the car 280 km (174 miles) of range, but other options should be possible, too, if we understand correctly. As for the motor, it delivers 304 PS (300 hp / 224 kW) and 502 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque. The original engine never produced more than 170 PS (168 hp / 125 kW).
Other available improvements include power steering and performance brakes. Among the interior options, a climate control unit is perhaps the biggest highlight.
